If you have lived here more than a season, you already know the rhythm. The 101 empties out after 6, the oaks throw long shadows across the lake, and by 7 a Motown band is warming up at Berniece Bennett Park. What is different this summer is the food. Four openings between January and May have quietly shifted where you might land after the concert lets out, and the operators behind them are not who you would expect.
Here is the through line worth holding onto before you scan the rest: the most interesting places to eat in Westlake Village right now are being built by families who already live in the 91361, on sites you already know by heart.
The five openings shaping the summer
The headline arrival is the one everyone drives past. Mediterranean fast-casual chain Cava opened in Westlake Village in May, located at Westlake Plaza and Center at Westlake Boulevard and Agoura Road, just south of the 101 Freeway. The restaurant opened May 15, 2026 at 968-12 S Westlake Boulevard, and runs daily from 10:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. It is the obvious weeknight bowl. It is not the story.
The story is the four other concepts around it, each with a local operator attached.

Read down that fourth column and the pattern is hard to miss. Three of the five new operators live in or near town, and two of them are returning to buildings they already know.
Yār on the Lake: what a remodel really means
Zin Bistro Americana closed at the end of December. The reopen was not a sale. The space at The Landing at 32131 Lindero Canyon Rd, Suite 111 is being taken over by Yār on the Lake, operated by the same ownership team behind Zin.
The new name signals a real menu change. Yār means "friend" in Persian and is aiming to bring a Mediterranean communal dining experience to Westlake Village. The family framed it plainly in their announcement: "Our family has called Westlake Village home for over 40 years, with this lake as the backdrop to our most meaningful moments."
If you had Zin on the short list for anniversaries and post-hike lunches, do not write the address off. The view is the same. The bread program is not.
La Gita and a Stonefire alumni act
The County Line Shopping Center concept is small on paper. La Gita Kitchen and Focacceria will open in a 955-square-foot space at 4619 Lakeview Canyon Road in the County Line Shopping Center, serving as a takeout and catering kitchen that offers focaccia bread baked onsite as well as sandwiches, salads and charbroiled chicken.
The lineage is not small. La Gita is co-owned by local resident Kyle Lopez, who worked at Stonefire Grill from 2008 to 2020 and served as its Chief Operating Officer. His mother and co-owner, Mary Harrigan, co-founded Stonefire Grill in 2000. Kyle indicated that La Gita is targeting a late-2026 grand opening.
The proposed hours are worth planning around if you commute. The proposed hours of operation are 10:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. from Sunday through Thursday and 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. from Friday and Saturday. That is a soccer-practice-pickup window, not a date-night one. The play is Friday takeout for the concert at the park.
Toastique, already open, quietly local
The morning slot at the Shoppes at Westlake filled in April. Toastique opened its doors on Saturday, April 11 inside the Shoppes at Westlake Village at 30760 Russell Ranch Road, Suite B. Toastique Westlake Village is owned and operated by friends and local residents Katherine and Leonid Tsap, and Alina and Dmytro Gaidukovych.
Their pitch for why it works here is a decent read on the town itself. In Katherine Tsap's words to the Chamber, "Westlake Village is such an amazing, family-oriented town where you run into people you know on a daily basis and we knew immediately that they would resonate with the expansive healthy menu that even those who are vegan or gluten-free can enjoy." Toastique Westlake Village is open seven days a week from 7am-5pm daily.
Osteria La Buca, coming to the same complex
The Russell Ranch address is doing heavy lifting this year. Two doors down from Toastique, the third Osteria La Buca is on the way. Italian restaurant Osteria La Buca is planning to add a third location, joining existing restaurants on Melrose Avenue and in Sherman Oaks. The forthcoming location will open at 30760 Russell Ranch Road, Suite D, in Westlake Village.
Co-owner Stephen Sakulsky is candid about the read. "We try to get in first to neighborhoods that are on the rise. Our Melrose location was out in no man's land and now it's the hip spot. Our Sherman Oaks location was kind of the first out to the Valley, and a lot of L.A. restaurants followed." Whether or not you buy the "on the rise" framing for a town that has been steady for decades, the vote of confidence from an operator who has watched two neighborhoods turn is not nothing.
Saturdays at Berniece Bennett, still the anchor
None of the food openings changes the reason Saturday night belongs to the park.
Summer 2026 is packed full of free concerts at the Westlake Village Civic Center and Berniece Bennett Park. All Saturdays in the Park Concerts begin at 7:00pm. Food Trucks open for service beginning at 6:00pm. All attendees are welcome to pack their own picnic dinner and are encouraged to bring their own blankets and chairs to the park.
A few dates worth putting on the fridge:
- Saturday, June 6 — The first Saturday in the Park concert on June 6, 2026, at Berniece Bennett Park featured Stone Soul, an upbeat and entertaining Motown band.
- Friday, June 12 — Thousand Oaks DJ hosted a World Cup Watch Party of the USA vs Paraguay match at Berniece Bennett Park, 31800 Village Center Road, due to construction at the City Hall courtyard. Activities started at 5pm and the game started at 6pm.
- Friday, August 7 — 5-Star Theatricals at the City Hall courtyard at 31200 Oak Crest Drive.
The construction note matters. If you have not been by the Civic Center recently, expect a few Fridays to shift to Berniece Bennett rather than the courtyard. Check the city calendar the morning of if in doubt.
When you want an actual venue, not a lawn
Some Saturdays call for chairs and air conditioning. Two rooms in town are doing the work this summer.
At Louie's, the July calendar leans tribute and songwriter. Petty Party, celebrating the music of Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, is happening on Sun 12 Jul 2026 from 6:00 PM onwards at Louie's, Westlake Village. Carl Verheyen Band is happening on Sun 19 Jul 2026 from 7:00 PM onwards at Louie's, Westlake Village.
At 14 Cannons, the programming skews social. Westlake Summer Vibes Comedy is happening on Thu 16 Jul 2026 from 7:00 PM onwards at 14 Cannons, Westlake Village. R&B Sing-A-Long Brunch is happening on Sat 25 Jul 2026 from 11:00 AM onwards at 14 Cannons, Westlake Village.
A weekend that uses all of it
Here is the template you can steal without thinking about it too hard.
Friday: Toastique at 30760 Russell Ranch for an early lunch, then a quick loop around the lake. When La Gita opens later this year, swap in a focaccia pickup at 4619 Lakeview Canyon on the way home.
Saturday: Picnic packed by 5:30, chairs in the car, food trucks at Berniece Bennett by 6, music by 7. Save room. Yār on the Lake is the walk-in after the last set if the patio at The Landing is open by then.
Sunday: Louie's for a tribute night, or 14 Cannons if brunch beats a show.
That is the summer. Four new tables, one carrying the DNA of a Ventura County institution, another carrying forty years of family history on the same lake. Free music that has not gotten worse in twenty summers. A town that still runs into itself at the coffee counter.
